FAQ
What’s It Like at Skim Camp?
We begin each camp session with a short warmup. Campers then break into small groups for a focused period of individual and group skimboarding instruction. We take a short break for water and a snack at the halfway mark.
How Long Has the Camp Been Around?
Entering its 13th year of operation, Jersey Shore Skim Camp is owned and operated by Felecia Stratton, a Sea Bright resident and “Skim Mom” with 30-plus years of business experience. She is also the former NJ Regional Director of Skim USA and SkimBash contest director. Please feel free to contact her any time.
Do Campers Need Their Own Skimboard?
No board? No problem! Jersey Shore Skim Camp has a variety of boards for use during camp sessions. If and when you’re ready to buy a skimboard, our professional instructors can help you make the right choice.
What Should Campers Bring With Them?
Please pack a small bag with a towel, water or other type of drink, and light snack (granola bar, fruit, etc.). Make sure camper is wearing sunscreen. For cooler days, a rashguard or wetsuit top is helpful.
What If It Rains?
The decision to cancel or delay the start of camp due to bad weather is made by 8 a.m., and you will be notified by text, email, and/or phone call. If weather forces a total cancellation, we will extend camp hours over the following days to make up the time.
If it rains when you are scheduled for a private lesson, we will contact you to schedule a new day/time. There are no refunds for weather delays or cancellations.
Is the Camp Insured?
Jersey Shore Skim Camp is fully insured. However, all campers and anyone taking a private lesson must sign a waiver. There are absolutely no exceptions.
Should I Tip the Instructors?
Tipping is not required. However, if you choose to recognize an instructor for extra effort and hard work, tips are always greatly appreciated.
I purchased a Five-Day Flex Pass, how do I schedule my days?
Your Flex Pass can be used on any scheduled camp day within the season, however we must receive at least 48 hours prior notice of when you plan to attend.
